Day 11 of art show prep… the one that was done in the beginning is still the only one done, but I have made progress! Two in good shape, and two prepped boards waiting in the wings.

The thing about being an artist is that you have to recognize when your art isn’t earning enough for you to live, and then do something about it—but that doesn’t make you any less an artist. There’s no shame in a day job. You can always revisit that decision when your art earns its keep.

I managed to land a job a week after I decided I needed one. In this economy. Not sure how to advise people on how to duplicate my success; pretty much every job I’ve gotten, I heard about from friends/neighbors and therefore had someone to vouch for me before I interviewed.

As someone whose family was on Medicaid during my husband’s bout of unemployment, I can tell you that the asset requirements were already brutal and encouraged perpetual poverty, and the documentation requirements were designed to get people to give up so they could be dropped from the program.

ANYWAY you know how people want less regulation on product labeling? I would rather my gluten problems come from silly me not reading the label and not mega corps not wanting to muddy up their design to tell me “processed on equipment that also processes wheat”

I accidentally glutened myself on a seasoned snack pack of tuna that I didn’t check the label on because why would tuna have gluten in it 🙄

Oh, sure, a hoard of cats sounds like such a cute idea but dragons ought to be aware that with their increased “lap” size, it can be quite an inconvenience - this poor guy hasn’t been able to move for three days.

people don't see artists (musicians, writers, crafters, etc) as laborers and that's the entire problem right there
people are inclined to see creativity as a hobby or downtime activity, you can't make it actual real work, what rights do you possibly want when you're being a slacker with no ambition
