Why does it suck if it: a) makes every R vote yes/no on killing the ACA (which they haven't been willing to do; there's a chance they fund it); b) temporarily ends the shut down which can resume end of January; and c) allows Snap to resume for now? What other better outcome did you think was poss?

Has it been established that the Senate deal is not conditioned on the House’s sign off? Or can’t the Senators refuse to approve the reconciliation if it does not include this requiremen?

Please explain why. As I understand it, reopening is conditioned on Rs agreeing on a stand alone vote to fund or kill the ACA, and killing it so transparently is something they never were willing to do when they had the chance in the past. The CR lasts only through January. Why not call their bluff?

Then the gov't doesn't reopen. Not saying I support it, but it does seem like Dem supporters are jumping the gun a bit in shitting all over this before the details of the deal are finalized.

Maybe we wait and see what happens before indulging in the Bluesky Dem hobby of bashing the crap on those who are on our side? Not saying it's going to work, but a standalone vote refusing to extend the subsidies is harder to explain away and if the vote fails Dems can shut it down again

Sell it as a shit sandwich, they will think it’s a shit sandwich. Specifcally, what is wrong with plan? Pause the shutdown for a standalone vote on ACA funding. If R’s fail to fund it the ACA, the government can shut down again in January. Not saying I support it but also not seeing why it’s a cave

Sincere question: what’s so wrong with this plan? Funding is through January, requires a vote on ACA subsidy extensions which Dems can call in December. If R’s vote it down, can’t shut down resume end of January? Seems like a pause to take up a funding bill on the ACA. What’s the harm?

If the vote fails in December, funding ends in January. Shut down returns. Again, not following the oppo logic

Good grief. The vote to extend subsidies can happen in December. Put them all on record, thumbs up or down on a stand alone ACA funding bill. I’m not saying I necessarily support this approach, but it seems viable. I don’t get the immediate vehement opposition. Feels knee jerk

As I understand it, this would only authorize enough funding to get through January and also require a stand along vote on extending the ACA subsidies. Why is that bad? It seems like a pause in the shut down to deal with the subsidies. If Repubs renege then the shut down picks right back up

The answer is no. Trump has corrupted our entire nation. More specifically, Republicans have allowed Trump to corrupt our entire nation to its core. Everything is infected

Voting for a Republican budget that gives you nothing isn't "caving," it's being a Republican. Any Dem stupid enough to do this must be primaried

They f'ing better not cave without getting something real on healthcare. Why in the world would any Dem vote for a Republican budget that gives them nothing? Eat a shit sandwich and get (rightfully) primaried. And Dem that does this is brain dead. Schumer needs to get the hell out of the way
