The goalie kit discussion at the beginning reminded me of some hockey goalie gimmicks:

-pads covered in netting to “confuse the shooter” (it never caught on)
-Garth Snow (second picture, left) and his gigantic shoulder pads
-Garth Snow again but this time with gigantic leg pads
