I have not yet named him. The SPCA called him Michel.

I'm leaning towards Zathras.

Reader, I married him.

Ingrid Pitt in The Vampire Lovers (1970)
lesbian vampires is its own subgenre, of course

Daughters of Darkness had Delphine Seyrig as a vampire (a lesbian one, of course)

48. The Bad Seed (1956)

I will not claim Rhoda was the first Creepy Child in horror, ever, but she was certainly one well before it became a very common thing. Watch with non-horror Mildred Pierce (1945), if you want.

47. Les Yeux sans visage (Eyes Without a Face) (1960)

A haunting film. A woman is in a car accident that leaves her disfigured. Her father wants to graft a new face to her, so he seeks a, um, "donor". (he kills women for the skin)

45 and 46. (The) Little Shop of Horrors (1960 and 1986)

Why, yes, another original and remake pair. The remake is a musical; both are funny.

44. Black Sabbath (1963)

Known in Italian as I tre volti della paura (Three Tales of Fear). An anthology, obviously. Unequal, as those tend to be, but worth a watch overall.

36-43. Corman's Poe Cycle (1960-1964)

On a total budget of 12$ (adjusted for inflation), Roger Corman directed 6 movies based on the works of Edgar Allan Poe (sort of, because some are loose, and one is a story by Lovecraft). And he did a marvelous job.

My favourite is The Masque of the Red Death.

35. Kwaidan (1964)

An anthology of four stories based on a book by Lacfadio Hearn, who compiled it from existing Japanese folklore. It includes the Yuki-onna (snow woman) like in 34, but also other stories.

It is an absolutely beautiful movie. It made me find the world itself more beautiful.

34. The Snow Woman (1968)

My review says "Beautiful, eerie and sad".

33. Viy (1967)

Based on a Nikolai Gogol story, it is actually one of the very, very few Russian movies I have watched. Yet another atmospheric one, with fairy tale motifs.

One of my favourites on this list.

32. Kuroneko (1968)

Shindô Kaneto is probably better known for Onibaba, released four years earlier, but I preferred this one. A sad story.

Warning that the movie starts with rape. It's a rape revenge story, which may not be for everyone.

As a side note, "kuroneko" means black cat.

31. The Yôkai Monsters movies.

Heavier on the fantasy than on the actual horror. A trilogy of Japanese movies from the late 1960s.

30. The Vampire Doll (1970)

Some movies are an atmosphere. This is one.

29. Don't Torture a Duckling (1972)

This is obviously a movie you first look into because the title makes you curious.

Someone is killing children in a small Italian town. A reporter investigates.

Warning for some values dissonance regarding mental disability as well as sexuality.

28. Theatre of Blood (1973)

Vincent Price's character taking FABULOUS revenge on the critics that wronged him.
