If the police can do it, why not doctors?

Yeah that's so true!! You can't even talk about another doctor's mistake to a different doctor - they react so badly!! It's exhausting trying to talk around all these ridiculous errors all the time!

Ugh and you'd just know the ones that do that are judging you for asking. Like, in a way that compromises your care 🫂

Ugh it's the worst isn't it. I can't stand it when doctors treat me as if I'm less intelligent than them. It really grinds my gears. 💜
October 19, 2025 at 11:11 PM
Wow not okay. The number of times doctors have scoffed at me is just too damn high.

Exactly, well put!

So, instead of “Doctors don’t have the time to treat patients thoroughly,” let’s ask: “What are doctors doing to make sure they do have the time?

Because if doctors don't fix this,
who will?

When you need help, every “it's probably just stress” every "there's nothing wrong" every time a doctor doesn't look further, it does more harm.

The wait. The dismissal. The misdiagnosis. The crisis that could’ve been prevented.

Patients can’t fix that problem.
Doctors can.

Patients don’t set appointment lengths.
Patients don’t design hospital rosters.
Patients don’t control how many people a doctor sees in a day.

Doctors do. Or at least, doctors *can* - if they stand up to the system.

Patients don’t need a model that explains away our illness, puts undue weight on psychosocial factors or suggests we could heal ourselves if only we had the right mindset.

We need medicine that investigates, listens, & centres the "bio".

Science, not stigma.
Support, not spin.

The biopsychosocial model could still be powerful - if used as intended: integration of care, not denial.

But too often it's become a smokescreen, used to gaslight patients.

At its best: holistic
At its worst: a weapon for patient neglect, exploitation & #MedicalGaslighting.

And when healthcare is under-resourced, BPS gets reduced to:
“Are you stressed? Have you tried mindfulness?”

❌Not integrated care.
❌Not real support.
✔️Just a checklist excuse.

Clinicians who own graded exercise clinics still push CBT & graded exercise, despite the harm.

In Australia, people with #MECFS can't access the #NDIS disability support unless they've tried the harmful treatment.

The conflict of interest is clear.⚡️⚡️⚡️
August 30, 2025 at 2:39 AM
Sometimes the model becomes pure ideology, not science.

CBT and graded exercise were pushed for patients with #MECFS under a BPS framework - even as patients reported harm.

That’s not evidence-based. That’s bias-based.
August 30, 2025 at 2:39 AM
It also dilutes responsibility.
If illness is “bio + psycho + social,” then no one takes ownership.

Doctors push patients "too hard" patients to psychology.
Psychologists can't treat the bio aspect, & push CBT.
Social workers have no resources.

The patient is left with nothing.
August 30, 2025 at 2:39 AM
This flips the original BPS model vision upside down.

👩🏻‍🦽‍➡️The model was meant to center the patient’s lived experience.

🧑🏻‍⚕️Instead, it often centers the clinician's interpretation of that experience.

"You're sick because you're probably just too stressed and anxious"
