I posted a similar question (pre-covid) to the DSA twitter account and...crickets. Happy to see this topic being taken up, and taken seriously.

No, missed that one. You solo in Homer NY at the Center for the Arts. Would have loved to see you and Jake Fussell together!

Not the best photo but you did swing up our way back in 2016.

It's a challenge. I don't think any of us intend to be 'greedy' it's just that not everyone approaches water with the respect and recognition of the fragility of some of these smaller streams.

Synchronicity is a thing. Flagged this quote yesterday: "One might perhaps carry the consideration of
the subject yet further, and dilate much on the
peculiar effects of different kinds of streams in
influencing one’s whole frame of thought and idea" from Cutcliffe "The Art of Trout Fishing etc."

Posted that quote just the other day! bsky.app/profile/ptre...
I recently re-encountered this quote from Aldo Leopold: “One of the penalties of an ecological education is that one lives alone in a world of wounds”. In light of all that is happening lately (wildfires , hurricanes, etc) I wonder if we'll be less lonely now, as harsh realities impact more people.

One of the issues we had was basically poor record keeping. We planted a lot but couldn’t remember where. I think what I found was from root plantings- seeds seem more challenging. And yes the erratic weather adds a whole other level of challenge-but keep the faith! You may find some this summer.

Watersheds …not sure where I’m going with this but the Susquehanna valley ties me, up here in NY, to you all. Need a regional gathering, or maybe one exists and I’m not aware?
