The 1995 miniseries with the screenplay by Andrew Davies is the definitive adaptation.

The 2005 film is more of a traditional Hollywood romcom with expedient and punchy storytelling.

They'll keep adapting this novel until the world ends, but the historical accuracy of the 1995 one is incredible.

The mediagram transmits a title in human text. "This man still quirks off the old-fashioned way."

The ambassador begins inferring meaning from the sequence of photonic transmissions. A man interfaces with ancient technology - a flashing rectangular computing apparatus. He looks around, removes his bottom clothing, and the photons begin an encryption pattern to obscure human interpretation.

5 meters expansion. Nearly every last particle of Gaerrickson's umbral matter, harvested over hundreds of standard cycles, for this one project. This harbinger, floating above space, would become a den of algae of fungus, the men extinct and the argentics corrupted if not for this exchange.

The embassy's antechamber glows with the pale gray of primitive photonic transmission, vibrating at terrahertz frequencies in an unpredictable pattern. The argentic ambassador suddenly realizes what the artifact is. A series of images for the eyes of men. Images in sequence. A video.

The men cannot build and the machines cannot create. This symbiosis has been the basis of all interunion summits since the Age of Onset.

Gran Solstice summons a mediagram.

There was a really short time in the late-middle Victorian where corsets were tightened to to the point of discomfort and immobility. Besides that, corsets have always been about comfort and mobility. Many fashion historians report them being more comfortable than the modern bra.

In two separate novels, that guy predicted VR (in Snow Crash) and the tablet/smartphone (in The Diamond Age).

The Diamond Age is the better Neal Stephenson book.
