Thanks for saving my paper Nils. Without you and Ralf, the data wouldn’t have seen daylight. When the investigations started, he offered more collabs to see if „water under the bridge is water under the bridge“ (quote). Luckily I was aware of the investigation and his attempt to blackmail me.

So fucked up. It's been disheartening to learn how many have been affected by his long history of harassment. I only learnt about this at the end of my studies, and only thanks to colleagues who broke the department's request to be silent about it.

I can’t imagine what it was like to be a victim of Hewstone, but I recognise how important this article is for the women he harassed. At the same time, I’m shaken that our community stayed silent for so long. I have deep respect for the women who exposed his wrongdoing.

What I found especially shocking was a comment from a senior professor who knew details: “But he’s stopped now, so you’re both fine, right?” (He also started new collaborations with Miles Hewstone when he was on his way out of Oxford). Insulting.
