There is a strong Symbolist-era "femme fatale" vibe though. The intoxicated look of those heavy eyelids, the long slender nose, that over-the-top headdress, all seem more archaizing Symbolist fantasy than anything ancient, no?

I remember reading a pretty compelling argument that it's a late 19th century forgery though.

Aside from being just gross, it's a conflation of "kick the can" (to procrastinate) and "kick the cat" (to express frustration), neither of which has any hint of "trying again"

Here in W. Canada we take cowboy cosplay very seriously, especially during Stampede. And our new PM shows up in a sports coat? Button down collar? No belt buckle? And that $10 tourist-grade hat?
He can play Trump like a violin, so I guess it’s fine that he fails in the western wear department. ☹️
