States are no where near as powerful as large ones. They just aren’t as powerless as they could be without the EC.

Larger states that have more votes get more attention, funding, and deference bc political survival has always and will always be a major factor in politics. The founders knew this and rather than ignore it they took measures to check it.

The reason for giving empowering smaller state is at least as true today. A check on the national govt to ignore 49% of the population. Power increases exponentially with population. Integration is irrelevant. They remain sovereign entities, also a check on the feds.
