Previously, HYBE had applied for permission to use Gwanghwamun Square, stating its intention to hold a concert for approximately 18,000 people in conjunction with BTS's comeback. On the 20th, HYBE also received conditional approval from the Cultural Heritage Administration for the use and filming of locations including Gyeongbokgung Palace, Gwanghwamun Gate, Woldae (the raised stone platform), and the Sungnyemun area. Having passed each stage of the approval process for the Gwanghwamun Square performance, BTS is now expected to unveil their first full-group comeback stage on March 21 at Gwanghwamun Square, presenting their 5th full-length album, "Arirang." Hybe has applied to host a concert for about 18,000 people at Gwanghwamun Square on March 21, a day after the group's comeback, and another event for roughly 30,000 at Seoul Plaza in front of the City Hall, according to city officials. If approved, it would be the first solo concert by a single K-pop act at Gwanghwamun Square. In an application submitted to the KHS, the company said the performance would be streamed worldwide via a major online platform to about 300 million subscribers in 190 countries, comparing the scale to "a global livestream event similar to the World Cup or Olympics." Global Streaming To Reach 300 Million Viewers HYBE officials told Seoul Economic Daily that the concert will be broadcast live to 300 million viewers across 190 countries through global OTT platforms. A HYBE official said this could be a live broadcast event on a scale similar to the World Cup or the Olympics. During the concert, media facade projections will be displayed on the walls of Gyeongbokgung Palace and Sungnyemun Gate. This marks the first time a solo concert by a specific artist or group will be held at Gwanghwamun Square.
