A picture from an illustrated book, I think (lazily grabbed the first image I could find from google depicting the object I wanted to post - it is being held up by a peasant standing above a crowd and it is -): a tied shoe (Bundschuh) at the top of a pole, which served as a sort of banner for various peasant rebellions in the early 16th century, most famously during the Peasants' War of 1524-1525

The moon with the blue outline!! it's more a Gordon really. (if I'm mistakenly assuming the universality of Thomas the Tank Engine it's a British children's show about anthropomorphic locomotives)
