I wore my @washingtonspirit.com Rodman shirt to school today in anticipation of the @nwslsoccer.com championship tomorrow. One of my students noticed & got so excited. “Is that a women’s soccer shirt? None of my teachers wear women’s soccer stuff. That’s so cool!”

It was even cooler than she knew.

I started reading Grant Wahl’s “World Class” anthology. The book jacket talks about his travels around the world writing. I find it really fascinating that when you read “Nacogdoches”, you don’t need a player’s name; you immediately know who the story is about.

Ryland Rees, in his third game with the Redwoods, made a big play on this takeaway in the fourth quarter to preserve the team’s lead.

I need @chrisrosie22.bsky.social to get his hands on these and review them on Five Minutes Nonreleasable. I want to know what you think!

Daycare was closed this week, so the kids were home. We did our 2nd annual Disney World at home day with Magic Bands, character meet & greets, virtual rides, & popcorn & a parade. My daughter also filled out her own favorite character bracket; winner was not a surprise.

The Redwoods claim Ryland Rees off waivers. Not only do they add a two-time former All-Star to the defense that was part of an excellent faceoff unit with the Waterdogs, they add a veteran with championship experience that can potentially help the younger players.

Redwoods back at it against the Atlas tonight. Rookie Chris Kavanagh has to shoot against college teammate Liam Entenmann.

Cole Kirst makes is on this week’s Redwoods 19-man roster. Kirst, the 2023 PLL Jimmy Regan Teammate Award winner, will make his 2025 debut.

6 years ago today I was in Dallas to cover the Rattlers-Cannons game as the fourth stop for my book, “Major League Life.” I interviewed team president Bill Goren, head coach Bill Warder, players Christian Carson-Banister, Bryce Wasserman, Jake Seau, Nick Seinfeld, and Donny Moss.

The Redwoods hit it big with their draft picks this year. They are the only team with two rookies in the PLL All-Star Game: Andrew McAdorey (#2) & Chris Kavanagh (#10). McAdorey leads all midfielders in points (14). Kavanagh has 12 points.
July 3, 2025 at 3:12 PM
The Redwoods are sending five players to the PLL All-Star Game: Dylan Molloy, Chris Kavanagh, Andrew McAdorey, TD Ierlan, and Brian Tevlin.
July 1, 2025 at 9:30 PM
How about that? I guess the people at ESPN read my piece about Kavanagh and McAdorey. It is neat to see how far something you write can go, reaching people you didn't even know were looking.

416 days after they drafted him, Cole Kastner is on the 19-man gameday roster and will finally make his PLl and Redwoods debut.
June 26, 2025 at 10:10 PM
In the wake of Chris Merle’s season-ending injury, Redwoods add SSDM depth by signing Carter Parlette. He played at Notre Dame with many California players. In the PLL, he played for the Cannons at this year’s Championship Series & was at training camp with the Chaos.

Three games on linear television this weekend in what will be a great environment. A must-watch.

Now I have a @tfltradingcards box for all three nations. No numbered cards this time, but that’s a great group of player autos.

New lacrosse book is out by @byslp.bsky.social . I preordered my copy in the winter, and it finally came in the mail. I’m looking forward to getting a chance to dive in.

I’ve been looking for a new Ben & Jerry’s flavor since I haven’t seen the cinnamon bun one in ages. I had Dirt Cake for the first time tonight, and let me tell you, we have a winner! That first spoon of chocolate ganache, cookie crumble, & ice cream? Chef’s kiss!

Happy with my pulls tonight!

Turned on the @wlacrosseleague while my daughter sat on my lap. In a mix of surprise and excitement, she said, “Daddy, are those girls playing?”

Moments like this matter, and hopefully, there are more to come. Cheers!
