I was asked for my social media accounts in a job interview a few years ago. I gave a LinkedIn link, but never had a Reddit, Twitter, or Instagram, and deleted my Facebook more than 10 years ago. They accused me of lying. If I ever travel to the USA again I’ll need to make some fake accounts..

Our cat has started drinking from my glass of water whenever and wherever I place it, so we’ve coined a new term: “felinate”. It’s when a feline claims something by licking it first, just like we did as kids. The glass is no longer mine. It has been felinated.

Many people send hateful messages for attention that they don’t get in daily life. The best response is to block and ignore them, don’t read or engage. Mail clients will learn over time.. Some people will always be toxic, but living/loving well and not giving them head space is usually best.

How should one ensure the legitimacy of a third party payment system in such an app?

As much as Apple/Google/Microsoft stores may have their negative aspects, there is a level of trust built that your financial data won’t be stolen due to poor security practices.

Kitty wants more Angry Birds..

Best of luck to you. Kitty and I will start reading this weekend! Honestly.. I’ll be reading and she’ll be mostly just doing cat things..

Between the AdGuard application installed on every computer /tablet / phone, AdGuard DNS set on the home router, and the uBlock Origin plugin in every browser (much overlap with AdGuard but helps with some edge cases), I don’t recall seeing any ads in months.

More time for attention to kitties.

I’m in Ontario, Canada on the Rogers network. Why is the video not available in my Country?
April 25, 2025 at 9:19 AM
Many people don’t look at the big picture and vote based on a single point or position that they see as defining. Many trust & believe what they’re told. Some consciously avoid knowledge that doesn’t align with their world views.

I feel disappointed in people like kitty does about the box size.

Are you aware that your site isn’t available from Canada (or at least the Rogers network in Ontario)?
April 11, 2025 at 8:18 AM
Some of us (Canada) can’t even see the link!

A feature request for the @bsky.app team: When someone’s name/account is linked in a post, an icon or some indicator if you’ve already followed them would be very helpful. Perhaps a toggle-able option that adds a follow button beside them would be nice.

Cat tax in thanks for reading!

Realistically, everyone has their price. For some it’s more than others, but a million dollars would be challenging to turn down for most after growing up poor and not believing that they’d ever see that many zeroes in their bank account.

Kitty will trade votes for catnip. She’s cheap like that..

Are there any metrics or quantifiable number targets that can be shared?

Kitty wants more disposable income for catnip and heated blankets.

Many feel that nobody listens to them, that their thoughts and opinions don’t matter, and that they have no control over their own lives. When someone tells them that they should be angry about this, it gives them an emotion to hold to, falsely making them feel powerful and in control.

Short version: Tariffs are a government tax paid for by whoever imports the item being tariffed. With Trump’s new tariffs on cars, he instructed dealers (who make ~ 5% profit on them) not to raise prices and thus incur a 20% loss on every car sold.

Even kitty has better math and business skills.

You can use *seemingly* secure messaging apps from companies where YOU are the product and their goal is to sell you things / advertise for whoever pays them most, or you can use Signal which is made by & audited by people who care about security.

I don’t want to click a link and have to deal with all sorts of adds, page load issues on my mobile, pay walls, and someone telling their life story including what they made for breakfast six years ago on their birthday. Why can’t articles like this JUST LIST THE VEGETABLE?

Cat tax for rant.

Most coding that does not have proper planning, management, resources, support, QA, maintenance, and a cute cat mascot results in upcoming technical debt.

Exceptions being for ‘hello world’ code or a scheduled cat photo wallpaper changer.

If you make it to Toronto I can speak for most of my local friends - we’ll all be there and will be happy to take you out for pints afterwards!

My feline reading partner featured below will stay home and likely chill on the recliner where I would be reading if I were there too.

I’m wondering if you don’t have a cat, or if you moved the beautiful latte close to the laptop for a picture and then quickly moved it away knowing that the cat would try to tip it over. Or maybe my cats are just bigger assholes than yours. They are awesome and I love them.

I’m Canadian, and somewhat ignorant of US politics and process. I would appreciate an explanation of why he said this, as it doesn’t make sense in the context of a shutdown stopping financial activities and payments until a new budget is approved. How would a shutdown help them?

Cat tax in thanks.

Many people of various religions orient towards the components of their belief system that align to what makes them feel good. At the same time they consciously avoid knowledge and acknowledgement of those that bring them negativity. It is unfortunately typical. We should all be cat-like and chill.

It feels even better when you tell stories about writing / coding html web pages using vi with a cat softly purring on your lap.
March 13, 2025 at 12:11 PM
Coding while this one sits on your lap purring and causing frisson every time you finish a line while being so happy you don’t care that you used “kitty” as every variable name.

The more news-relevant sources I follow, the more paywalled links I open and then get irritated that I can’t read without spending money that I don’t have to spend.

It would be lovely to have a setting that could flag or simply ignore / not show any paywalled links.

Kitty prefers buying catnip.
