Here’s another little dinghy idea I had—something that could make for exciting and challenging single hand sailing with the sloop rig (bottom), or a relaxed cruise with 2-3 passengers with the lug rig (top). Shape is reminiscent of Nigel Irens’ Western Skiff, I think. #sketching #boatdesign

My thought is that I’d build this to an almost comically high standard of detail—including strip-planked decks and rounded multi-chine lapstrake/clinker hull. This is supposed to give a sense of what that would look like—also note the two different mast positions for different rigs. #sketching

Breaking out my sketchbook for the first time in years, I realize that I like drawing boats but need to keep practicing if I ever want to actually design one and build it. This is supposed to be a traditionally-styled high-performance 1-2 person racer…

After a great day out sailing, it’s always fun to appreciate how much I can schlep around in my little GTI

The kit arrived! Here it is as it came on the pallets, and how it looks once unpacked.
