I got laid off today, with the rest of 18F.

18F was an elite federal software shop. We made gov't websites work better, more efficiently for the American people. We saved taxpayers from getting screwed over by contractors. And were fired for it.

And whatever else happens today, swapping Menedez for Kim is an unreservedly great thing.
This picture (by AP’s Andy Harnik) is the indelible image of the last four years. It represents how the people we send to Washington are supposed to be caretakers for this precious, tenuous democracy we have. We should want officials who take that job so seriously they’re willing to do it literally.
