President Biden has issued an executive order blocking drilling for oil in more than 625 million acres of U.S. ocean. It's the largest such move in history, but is almost guaranteed to be challenged under the incoming Trump administration.

According to ESSRTv5, the global average sea surface temperature for 2024 was the warmest on record (since 1855). A whopping 25.1% of the global ocean had its single warmest year. 0.0% had its single coolest year.

Anyone who complains that wind turbines are unsightly and damaging has never flown over west Texas where thousands of square miles of prairie have been utterly ruined by the petroleum industry. The despoiling of the land is the visible damage while the toxins and CO2 are invisible but even worse.

The devastation on its way is unimaginable - like nothing humanity has ever witnessed before - and everyone will wish they had been climate activists and ‘hysterics’ when they had the chance. We are in a moment of unprecedented stupidity

Renewable generation and pumped storage equalled 77% of yesterday's electricity demand, with a peak of 84% at 16:45. Fossil fuel generation (mostly gas) equalled 28% of demand. 5% of generation was exported, 0% of demand was met by imports.
