The UK National Screening Committee are set to make a decision about screening for prostate cancer later this year. Whatever they decide the status quo needs to change. You can find out more about our work to achieve this here: prostatecanceruk.org/get-involved...
It's about time we had a prostate cancer screening programme
A prostate cancer screening programme is a way to find prostate cancer before symptoms show up. Soon, the UK National Screening Committee will decide if it’s now time for prostate cancer screening.

We're encouraged by Baroness Merron's response on behalf of the Government that "The Government will consider revising the management programme in line with the outcome of the UK National Screening Committee evidence review."

This is not to mention the excellent contributions from Lord Kamall, Lord Rennard, Lord Kempsell, Lord Beamish, Lord Berkeley of Knighton, Lord Rogan, Lord Kirkham, Baroness Murphy, Lord @jimbethell.bsky.social, Lord Taylor, Lord Patten, and Lord Patel

And Lord @tomwatsonofficial.bsky.social:

"It is obvious to me that in a civilised society we should allow our GPs to have a conversation with men about what the testing regime should be, particularly those high-risk groups."

And Lord Bailey:

"I had to badger my GP to have it done. I had to point out that I am of West Indian descent and that my family has had this happen before. [...] If you did not have my tenacity, that could be a death sentence."

This is critical, as Baroness Royall said:

"The system benefits men who are aware of the issue and able to interact with doctors, entrenching biological and societal inequalities. It cannot be right that it is awareness, not risk, that determines who gets tested"
