The number of cyclists using Vanderbilt Avenue dramatically increases during open street hours when there's a safe route for cyclists — evidence that protected space for cyclists must replace the painted bike lanes that drivers often park in.

To kick off our Car-Free Earth Day programming, we are organizing a community cleanup!
We will start at Underhill Plaza on Saturday, April 26 at 10am, and spread out over the neighborhood. We will provide trash bags and gloves. Feel free to bring your own trash picker, broom, or other tools.

The Open Streets program is in serious danger due to lack of funding and support from city hall. What a tragedy.

Having to fundraise to run the Vanderbilt Open Street every year is not sustainable. This weekend we rallied with Open Streets organizers from around NYC asking
Mayor Adams to provide truly sustainable funding for Open Streets. Without a change, Open Streets won't survive beyond 2025.

Open streets are a refuge for me - places to meet up more safely outdoors and a small breath of fresh air among NYC's primarily car-dominated streets.

City government needs to make sure this incredible vibrant program has what it needs to thrive.

Thank you to everyone who helped us get to $10k raised! These funds all directly support Open Streets operations and programming. It may not seem like it, but there are tons of pieces that go into running Vanderbilt Ave — we can't do it without your support!
