One fun thing about working on #ctenophores (comb jellies) is that you get to see animals nobody has depicted for more than a century. I haven't found any images of Deiopea from the time between Chun's 1880 drawing and my 1990s photo. Even shallow SCUBA exploration can yield surprises 🌊🦑🧪

It should be noted that in addition these are women with desired pregnancies- who had baby showers and prepared for a new baby. So this isn’t an elective procedure -this is a medical emergency where a pregnancy has died inside the mother & has to be removed or she dies period. Sin my ass 🤬
