Say goodbye to our beautiful little cat who died quietly in her sleep last night. She was 17 and had one day of sudden illness. We were going to take her to the vet this morning but she'd already gone. She was so loved - from a scared rescue to queen of our bedroom.

🍽️ Did a turkey breast joint yesterday (proper roast dinner!) so wanted to do a curry with it today. Onion, garlic, red pepper, turkey, coconut milk and tomato passata and sultanas. Served it with leftover saffron rice & mushroom and leftover roasties, crisped in the air fryer.

Was feeling classic today so we have soy, honey, mirin 5 spice and honey marinaded trout, pan fried. Served with pearl barley, mushroom and white wine risotto and fried crispy kale.
It's the best thing I've cooked in a while - skin is crispy and sweet/spicy, risotto is soft and umami.

Was feeling classic today so we have soy, honey, mirin 5 spice and honey marinaded trout, pan fried. Served with pearl barley, mushroom and white wine risotto and fried crispy kale.
It's the best thing I've cooked in a while - skin is crispy and sweet/spicy, risotto is soft and umami.

🍽️ it's "what's in the fridge" day.. Some sausages (skin removed, chunked and fried), then removed. Red onion (biriani cut) fried off with mushroom, garlic, tomato paste, tin of tomatoes and Italian herbs. Simmer for 30 minutes!

🍽️ Wanted something lighter today - so I threw together (with some slightly sad veg 😁) a mushroom, red pepper, ham and chopped smoked cheese frittata (cheese melts and gives little smoky pockets of melted cheese!).
Some leftover panettone for pudding with a nice cup of rooibos tea.

🍽️ Wanted something lighter today - so I threw together (with some slightly sad veg 😁) a mushroom, red pepper, ham and chopped smoked cheese frittata (cheese melts and gives little smoky pockets of melted cheese!).

🍽️ Local farm shop had some fresh beef shin so it would have been rude to not make beef, mushroom, beans (Lima/butter and pinto) and carrot slow cooked stew. Served with air-fryer jacket potatoes (with 2 left over to make loaded skins later)

🍽️ Wanted to do something simple (ish) so roast spiced butternut squash, sausage, mushroom and spinach in a cheesy sauce pasta back. Because I'm not allowed to use my right hand (big hole in the wrist from the angiogram) my wife did all the chopping, cutting and lifting. I was allowed to stir stuff!
🍽️ Ukrainian buckwheat chicken soup (except, confusing buckwheat with bulgar wheat, I didn't have buckwheat so I used pearl barley..). I also added some chopped potato. Has 6 cloves of garlic and a lot of black pepper!

🍽️ Local Lidl had some packs of good sized king prawns so I thought I'd do Kung Po prawns served with stir fry noodles in oyster sauce and veggies. Was delicious!
Still got about half the prawns left so Wednesday it'll be tempura prawns served with something.. (Haven't decided yet)

All served in an individual Yorkshire pudding and then artistically sprinkled with chopped parsley by my wife 😁

🍽️ Leftovers - cold Polish sausage from yesterday, skin removed and cut into half slices then fried until crusty. Biriani cut onion - halved then cut into thin slices, stir fried with mushrooms then egg and pre-cooked basmati rice added. Light soy added, toasted almond and spring onion sprinkled

🍽️ The world tour continues - Manchurian chicken (thigh fillets in an egg white, cornflour, soy sauce batter) served with leftover fresh linguine (egg noodles!) and a garlic, ginger, spring onion, tomato and soy sauce sauce.

Monday is drugs day, getting morning and night ready for the week (dad and mum used to do it for dads' Parkinsons drugs - he was a pharmacist and she was a nurse..)
Turns out that being a crumbling wreck has lots of medication associated..
Still, best to be organised rather than doing it all daily.

🍽️ Was going to cook keilbasa sausage with onion and saurkraut but instead decided to do Spanish tortilla - fried potato cubes with red onion and mushroom, covered in beaten egg and cooked gently on the hob then flipped and finished. Served with chopped tomato. The dog treats are optional 😺

🍽️ Was going to cook keilbasa sausage with onion and saurkraut but instead decided to do Spanish tortilla - fried potato cubes with red onion and mushroom, covered in beaten egg and cooked gently on the hob then flipped and finished. Served with chopped tomato. The dog treats are optional 😺
🍽️ Had a smoked gammon joint in the freezer for a month or so - needed using.. Slow cooked in honey, soy sauce, balsamic and some cloves then oven roasted for 25 minutes. With air fryer jacket potatoes and oven roasted Portobello mushrooms with balsamic and parsley.

Covered in sauce and cheese, baked.

🍽️ Our local butcher had some pheasant breasts, prep butchered and ready for cooking! So I dredged them in flour and pan fried them. Along with gnocchi, pan fried in butter (there's a theme 😁). Some sprouts with chestnuts. Sauce is cooking juices, chicken stock, wine, capers, lemon and lemon juice
