In 1913, New York City's Grand Central Terminal became the first "stairless" train station in the world.

1913!

And in the 21st Century, the UK can't even work out how to provide level boarding for trains.

The History Of The Wheelchair Ramp Represents The Fight For Accessibility
The history of the wheelchair ramp may go back thousands of years to ancient Greece, but buildings were not legally required to have wheelchair ramps until 1990.

Second day back at work after nearly 3 months off work & 2 weeks in hospital after nearly dying from #sepsis followed by a massive flare up in my #ataxia, the #neurodegenerative disease I have. So thankful for my awesome research group & wonderful colleagues for keeping the show on the road 🥰

A proper inspiration for me when I was a baby queer scientist growing up in her actual back garden (Newstead Abbey Park in Nottinghamshire, the home of Lord Byron, Mr “mad, bad and dangerous to know” himself

Plasmids are commonly viewed as burdensome. But maybe this burden can be advantageous? Check out this new review paper from the lab that investigates this further!!

Glad to have joined the exodus!
Good news: Twitter is collapsing.

And this chart doesn't even show the last two weeks—which have seen the largest exodus in site history.

There are reports from Newsweek and others that Twitter may merge with Truth Social.

If that happens, the last collapse of Twitter may happen almost overnight.

Hello Bluesky, excited to be transitioning to a community that better reflects my morals 🙌
Lots of academics on this place--so exciting. I'd love to get to know you better. Could you reply below here with a link to *one* article or book you recently co-authored that you love, and a brief description of what it's about?
You can reskeet this for wider uptake so we get a nice list!
