Spent the whole weekend writing an ultra-fast-track paper on a really interesting astronomical object one of the students in my group found earlier this month - but despite working nonstop for three days it was a lot of fun getting it together! (Vague preview below...)

However, in the meantime I attended my first con (Further Confusion) in January 2005, and the first commission of my fursona to be *completed* was an at-con traditional badge, by a then-new artist now known as Kacey Miyagami (@kaceyfish.bsky.social). I was so excited to see it finished and wear it!

It was finished in February 2005 - some character details have slightly changed since then, but it's still pretty good! (The artist went by Melanee in communication with me, although signed another name that is hard to read: perhaps Rags?) I ended up paying for this by mailed check.

Another place from my past! It's been 15 years since I last came to use the telescopes at Lick Observatory, and while they're far from the state of the art now, it is great that we can still do useful science from this mountain.
