Had so much fun exploring Coimbra in advance of moving there in September. Pinching myself that this will be my workplace (third pic is my new office building)! 🤩

Day 5: Patterdale to Grasmere 7 miles, 2000ft elevation]

Did the walk we were meant to do the day before but backwards. Was very glad to have not missed it out completely. Stomach was hurting some of the day but otherwise the walk felt easy peasy! Rainy but happy last day walking, then train home.

Day 3: Rosthwaite to Grasmere [7 miles, 2000ft elevation]

Started the day feeling really weak and nauseous. Was much slower and needed more breaks. Had a moment at the top of Eagle Crag where I thought I was going to faint and had to lie down. Vomited & fever when we got to the hostel.

Day 2: Ennerdale Bridge to Rosthwaite [15 miles, 2300ft elevation]

Even more rainy than Day 1, but I was still having a great time. My favourite bit was this flat walk around the beautiful Ennerdale Water. Hoped for a rest at YHA Black Sail but it wasn’t open, so persevered in the pouring rain.

Day 1: St Bees to Ennerdale Bridge [14 miles, 2400ft elevation]

Was very rainy but I was happy and proud of myself for walking longer than l'd ever walked in one day while also carrying a heavy (for me) backpack. Hadn’t quite figured out the right straps combination yet so had some back pain.

C2C part 1 done ✅

St Bees to Patterdale [43 miles, 4 days walking]

This was my first ever multi day hike! It was hard but so fun. Previous to this I’d never hiked for more than 5 hours in a day. I got so much braver as the days went on, with some light scrambling and lots of scary river crossings.

Yesterday I spent the day with my friend and her two kids (6 and 7yo)...

Kid 1: Why do you have a beard?
Me: Some people who look like women have beards!
Kid 2: Are you a girl or a boy?
Me: I'm kind of inbetween!
Kids: OK!
Kid 1 *makes a mud painting of me on a leaf, making sure to add the beard*
