A poem I wrote 10+ years ago--before Trump. I lost this sense, but am coming back to it now...:

America is an idea
that "all men are created equal,"
before we cared to define "human", "created", or "equal."
America is freedom for our grandchildren
in a manner we will never understand.

Well it’s the end of the day. While I won’t sleep anytime soon, I want to remind everyone that self care is critical.

This quote summarizes it nicely. As a caregiver sometimes I feel guilty for taking time for myself.

Pleas take the time to take care and love yourself 🫶

We are witnessing a shift toward people power, where independent media and the voices of everyday Americans—not corporations—matter most. Here’s my pledge: we will never shy away from holding truth to power. And knowing this community, I know you won’t either. www.meidasplus.com/p/as-corpora...

Great recommendations: I would add Gross’s Rorty biography and ”I am Dynamite” by Sue Prideaux (I seem to have lost my copy :( )

This classic work in the history of nationalism argues that the rise of widely available print (esp. newspapers) made it possible for geographically dispersed groups of people to imagine themselves as a roughly coherent entity called "a nation" in which there was an ongoing conversation.
