All of these bbs are healthy nursing mothers and their offspring (with the possible exception of this lone chonkmonster from last summer. Look at him. He’s magnificent.). While we’ve never seen a seriously ill raccoon that hadn’t been poisoned by our neighbor, we are fully vaxxed for rabies

To reiterate, DO NOT FUCK WITH WILDLIFE. If they want to approach us, like this little food bandit here, that’s fine, but we do not touch them or get in their space.

So after a couple of summers of this, we came to the conclusion that it would lead to far less chaos and heartbreak if we just fed the raccoons enough to keep them at home.

And y’all. It is so much fun. The same ones come out every night. Once they’re big enough, the babies come too.
