Everything about politics to people like Matt Stoller (or Jet Heer, or that ettergentum kid, etc) is oriented around outdated aesthetics. They don’t like the Demorxatic coalition bc they find democratic voters “cringey”. They yearn for a kind of politics that never actually existed

The primary distinction between BlueSky progressives and (usually white) Twitter leftists is that Twitter leftists fundamentally reject politics *as such* and therefore have more in common with reactionary data bros then they do with those of us who are just like “Republicans are bad, the end.”

I’d go so far to even implicate the leadership at, like, NYT, CNN, and Politco

I continue to believe that a substantial portion of the animosity towards Biden was fostered by media/tech elites pissed about Lina Khan and Gary Gensler

Which is why during Oldgate, the strongest institutional defenders of Biden were on the left, because they had finally gotten a real say on the domestic agenda. It was the major centrist figures who really wanted him gone, and Harris too if they could swing it.

I understand (and, to a degree, sympathize with) the left’s anger at Biden but I sometimes worry they get carried away by their feelings and unintentionally aid the NYT/Politco/Yglesias crowd by adopting their framing of Biden’s presidency. Biden’s regulatory policies were affirmatively good!

I continue to believe the corporate press’ desire to destroy Biden is at least partially motivated as an attempt to forever cement the narrative that Bidenomics (in this case meaning his antitrust/labor/regulatory policy) was Bad and that Democrats must never pursue something like that again
