Indris (Indri indri) are endemic to Madagascar's eastern rainforests. Populations in the north are black, those in the south are black-and-white, those in between exhibit both color patterns. Threatened by habitat loss, forest fragmentation, and illegal hunting. Listed as Critically Endangered.

Ankarana sportive lemurs (Lepilemur ankaranensis) are endemic to northern Madagascar's forests. Nocturnal and solitary; they forage alone by night and shelter in tree holes and vine tangles by day. Populations are declining. Threatened by habitat loss to coal mining and hunting. Endangered.
