“In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.”
Rene Cayetano must be turning in his grave at the grave abuse of the law that both his kids Alan Peter and Pia are causing today in the Senate discussion on the impeachment. 🤮

I used to mind all the anti-Boomer talk, until the anti-Gen X jokes started, making it seem like all the Boomers are now invisible…or dead ☠️

Everything I’ve read leads me to conclude that Biden’s infirmities restricted his capacity to campaign effectively but not his abilities to govern the country. He provided effective governance which ensured consistency but without transparency.

While I did hope that Bam and Kiko would join Risa in the opposition, I’m willing to listen to their reasons for not doing so. I’m willing to concede government action is needed in so many areas given that BBM seems to be just coasting along and not instituting reforms.

Which team are you on Team Taco or Team Ketamine? Polvoron or the Piattos queen? BBM deports Sara’s dad to the Hague and Sara faces an impeachment. Similarly, Trump trolls call for Elon to be deported and Elon asks for Trump’s impeachment. Don’t ya love it when Philippine and US history rhymes 🤡

Butch Abad’s advice on bullet voting might have been right. By just voting Bam/Kiko (or plus H and L), we did not dilute our votes by adding to their competitors. What a difference 3 years make! Duterte in The Hague; Bam, Kiko, Leila and Chel in the House!

Leo XIV: our new missionary turned Pope is often called the pope of two worlds. North America and Latin America. A US Cardinal who sides with refugees amongst a US Cardinalate that tended to discredit Pope Francis.

Developing consensus on Pope’s legacy: A+ on being a symbolic, spiritual and pastoral leader. C- as a church reformer.
His influence is less on daring decisions but more on effective process of consensual decision making. Hope it’s true he left instructions to proceed on female diaconate.

Pope Francis and Zelensky preach the same 🐣 message.
Francis: “We are to reflect Easter in our lives and become messengers of hope, even as many winds of death still buffet us” Zelensky: “Evil may have its hour, but God will have His day…sooner or later, evil will retreat, and life will triumph.”

David Brooks used to be called Obama’s favorite conservative pundit. Now he’s calling for civil unrest against Trump. I think Obama would approve.
"It’s time for Americans in universities, law, business, nonprofits and the scientific community, and civil servants and beyond to form one coordinated mass movement. Trump is about power"

17% tariffs levied on the Philippines, compared to Cambodia 49%, Laos 48%, Vietnam 46%, Myanmar 44%, Thailand 36%, Indonesia 32%, Malaysia 24%.
So I guess we’re allies? 🤷‍♀️
Econ prof Justin Wolfers:

#Trump announces his #tariffs, which are (somehow?) related to the trade barriers other countries are imposing on the U.S.

But...
THE NUMBERS HE'S PRESENTING BEAR NO RELATION TO REALITY.

It would be absurd to call these reciprocal tariffs. They're grievances.

Who we elect matters. Watch as Philippines goes from #2 in wealth in 1960 steadily going down to #7 by 2024.

Long-term studies have shown links between political dynasties and poverty. Let’s choose better leaders!

Pres. Duterte: my name is Rodolfo Roa DutertE!
ICC Judge: ok Mr. Dutert

Also Duterte as Mayor, ““I was angry she was raped, … but she was so beautiful, the mayor should have been first!”

Nothing better than watching the all female ICC judge panel mispronounce his name.

The first ICC hearing was brisk and no nonsense. Bodes well for the argument that an international court would have more success in carrying out a fair trial. But why just 42 cases as the basis for the charges, Rappler explains it all here.

Police 'one time, big time' ops in Bulacan, Caloocan part of ICC case
The prosecution handpicked a case set of 42 killings in applying for the warrant. This is not uncommon in mass atrocities cases.
