Woke up this morning, thinking, what could possibly make people abandon #linkedin for a more open, federated alternative? Will it be a catastrophic Microsoft mistake, or a form of losing trust? As of now, it still seems like LI has filled a vacuum left after the demise of Twitter, and is strong […]

Let's talk photography. Yesterday, I decided to use one of my possibly last days in Munich, to go and experiment with my Wild Pastel LUT. All the photos were directly with the LUT applied. I used the HARD settings, where I would have probably benefited more […]

If I've accidentally invented a way to turn people's Notion exports into beautifully laid out e-books (that also look great in print), would anyone bother to use it?

Asking for a friend 👀

Stop calling it a Rust issue, OK?

It's an error caused by human negligence and miscommunication.

Like most bugs.

End of story.

Is it just me having been around proper digital cameras for too long, or is the state of modern iPhone cameras really kind of meh? I made the huge leap from a 2019 iPhone XR to a 16 Pro a few weeks ago, and have been trying since to get anything decent out of the camera(s), but it's just not […]

With Al the hype around LLMs, it pains me to see how terribly neglected other ML tools have become. Classifiers, in particular. Yes, you can use an #llm for classification, but it’s about the same as using a chainsaw to cut your salad. It’s terribly inefficient.

A well-trained text classifier […]

It's amazing how such an old and dusty Mac app can be so effective in keeping you away from doomscroll black holes. It does so well, because it blocks them at the system's hosts level.

A 10/10 recommendation!

I rarely use LinkedIn, but like many others, I sometimes have to, to publicise some of the public-good stuff I'm doing.
One thing that annoys me about trying to see what others are doing is the apparent lack of a chronological order option for the timeline.
I just found an article that explains […]

For times like these, when you'd think the world is going nowhere, I've set up this @feedle #rss feed search. There is so much going on in health, but we are so deep in 💩reading about politics that we don't even notice it.

I am adding more feeds here from other #science disciplines as well.

Neither are they too late.

They are both.

Updating to the latest version of #macos Sequoia (15.7.1) rendered my favorite keyboard useless. It's one of the longish USB keyboards that came with iMacs around 2010-2011. I never got along with the slimmer versions.

Aaand, it was gone, before I could even say “Start!” Thanks to the one who bought it from me. I hope, it makes you productive, and you find more use out of it than I did.
If you are in Germany (EU shipping is also an option), you can consider buying the #supernote Nomad A6x2, I bought back in September. I had to acknowledge that the device just isn't for me, but can perfectly suit anyone else.

At the price of EUR 350 for the […]
