When Illinois gerrymanders for decades it’s crickets, when Texas gerrymanders it’s “rigging the midterms” according to Newsom, who then advocates doing exactly what he just called election rigging. Nobody but politicians win in a gerrymandering fight. It’s the D’s fault it’s this close anyway.

Linear TV is a dying medium and the late night talk show format created by Steve Allen makes less sense in the 21st century. People can get their celebrity fix from their phone, they're not going to wait for a time slot for a six-minute puff interview. Colbert will be back in podcast form.

I mean, he was running against a known crook. Just like Trump in 2016, this was a “we don’t want the devil we know, we want a disruptor” election. This is how elections have been in America and Europe for a decade now.

The Trace Memory collection was fun but basically a remake that changed most of the puzzles (since they couldn't be done on non-DS hardware). I hope they can do a Hotel Dusk collection but with more faithfulness.

Not a good argument, since welfare benefits don’t lead to more kids. Almost all of the developed world has been basically paying people to have children and gives generous parental leave and other benefits to boost fertility. Hasn’t worked. So this is one thing Republicans aren’t hypocrites on….

One of the biggest problems with MAGA is that apart from tariffs (and possibly Fed policy) it mainly erodes things that are intangible and thus harder for the average person to see why it’s bad. Succession crises destroy countries, and have held Africa back for decades, but the average person…

Yes, people who want to suspend the rule of law to go after people they don’t like always have a rationale. Trump has one (though it constantly changes) and Mamdani has one.

Isn’t that essentially what Mamdani is advocating? The only difference is that illegal immigration is at the very least a civil violation, whereas Netanyahu hasn’t done anything he can legally be arrested for. I am for pretty open borders and don’t like Netanyahu, but I also like the rule of law.

If they haven’t committed a crime in our jurisdiction and the crime they committed was according to a QUANGO (not even a nation state) that we have no treaty with then arresting him is a purely political act. Like what Trump is doing. So is lawlessness okay when it’s against people we don’t like?
