Since 2008, her research has focused on the histories of the atomic bombings in Hiroshima & Nagasaki, and more recently the Manhattan Project sites, as well as locations used during the internment of the Japanese diaspora in the US during WWII.

elin o’Hara slavick is an Artist-In-Residence at the University of California, Irvine, and has been recognized for her work internationally. She is also a curator, critic and activist.

An interdisciplinary artist, Migiwa Orimo primarily works in installation consisting of text, drawing, objects, video and sound that explores the notions of gap, slippage, and “a realm of disjunction.”

Two weeks ago, on the 80th anniversary of the Trinity test, Nobel Laureates, nuclear experts, and community leaders discussed the urgency of avoiding nuclear war. I was glad to have been there. The resulting declaration and recommendations, endorsed by 120 Laureates: nobelassembly.org/declaration/

My conclusion is that this Hiroshima-like image of Gaza City gives us a glimpse onto one of the areas that *less destroyed* by the Israeli campaign.

It is a manifestation of the scale of this annihilation.
