also you can fit character proportions to level design. 1x1 for classic retro labyrinth levels (Dragon Slayer IV), 1x3 for open, easy platforming levels.

It’s kind of funny for Samus, who’s realistically proportioned, but the armor deforms her shape.

Yeah, with the chibi version, it’s tricky to show body movements, even for a simple attack. I think I’ll make a simple/classic game with a limited scope, that could work.
