Based on preclinical studies and control of thermogenesis, dietary interventions implementing use of specific branched fatty acids or modulation of proteins involved in their metabolism might be a promising strategy to treat #obesity and related metabolic diseases www.nature.com/articles/s41...
Peroxisomal metabolism of branched fatty acids regulates energy homeostasis - Nature
A UCP1-independent mechanism of thermogenesis involving ATP-consuming metabolism of monomethyl branched-chain fatty acids in peroxisomes is described and a previously unrecognized role for peroxisomes in adipose tissue thermogenesis is identified.

Study of 3,481 people in Great Britain finds that people bought out-of-home meals more often when there were more food outlets nearby, not based on how healthy the menus were.

@jeanmadams.bsky.social and colleagues recommend limiting outlet numbers may help improve diets.

Being concious about adding plant based ingredients in meals go a long way! Adding spinach to your breakfast eggs and veg to your fried rice are small ways to improve overal intake.
Increasing familiarity with plant-based meals—not focusing on ingredients or individual dishes—may be a promising strategy to boost #plantbased meal consumption. Reducing food #neophobia may also be important, esp. in countries where dietary norms are less diverse: doi.org/10.1016/j.ap... #diets
