In some places, it's far more chance related. The First Nation's Election Act and the PEI provincial election legislation leave it to a game of chance. The last election for chief here was down to a name from a hat after a tie vote.

To be clear, I have no preference on the court outcome, and I expect the Bloc to win any byelection.

I think I disagree here. There will always be errors. That it was this close is why it's an issue. It's important to note (imo) that it's not in Election's Canada's power to make this decision. Process is what protects us from error, and that's why we have to leave it to the court at this stage.

I am for a reelection if that's what the court decides, but there is also dangers there, as the result will be different simply by virtue of changing circumstance.

I think we need to leave it with the court and not presuppose the result. There are dangers in both directions, and I would say that no matter who had won.
