Billionaires are a symptom of humanity. Literally 95% of people would hoard wealth if they could, it happens in every system. As someone living in a post-communist country, let me tell you, people hoarded wealth under communism as well, they just hid it 🤷♂️

That and the underwater episode are among the best pieces of television I have ever seen in my entire life. They are two sides of the same coin to me, pushing the limits of what can be done in a show, one consisting of nothing but one long monologue, the other having no dialogue at all.

Before the Netflix algorithm, I would just go to Wikipedia, find a category of movies that interested me, and watch everything I could find in alphabetical order 🤷♂️ Never understood the appeal of browsing when it wasted time I could spend watching.

Ship wars are so fucking stupid, especially when people talk about it in terms of what is moral and what isn’t, which unfortunately does happen in the wider OFMD fandom. Luckily, Izzy fans don’t seem to go there, which is great, since our guy can be shipped with literally anyone and anything 😆

If the servers go down and the achievement/trophy systems stop working, I won’t be playing video games anymore. Only achievements generate dopamine in my brain 😅 Though I do realize that I belong to a tiny minority and most gamers don't care about this at all.

As for games, I play purely to unlock trophies, so any system that doesn’t support achievements is of no interest to me. I REALLY tried to get into Zelda on Switch and I know it is a very good game, but my brain said that since there are no trophies there is no point in playing it 🙃

I only watch things once, since rewatching anything feels like a terrible waste of time when there is so many things I've not yet seen. So buying DVDs would be a literal waste of space in my case. That being said, going tribal over this is stupid, let people consume media the way they want.

If Stede was replaced with a female character, the Internet would be raging against the idea that to be happy in love you need to give up absolutely everything that makes you you. That’s a terrible and harmful fucking trope, not a happy ending.

He just wanted Ed and Stede to end up in that shack and was determined to achieve that goal by any means necessary. Who cares that it makes zero fucking sense for Stede to give up piracy just like that to make home on some empty beach.

What we actually got was Ed torturing his crew for weeks and then being invited to stay among his victims after they explicitly said he was out and Stede being so fucking mean most of the time, ignoring everyone's feelings but his own and fucking Ed right after Ed said he wanted to go slow.

And it’s breaking my heart because when S1 ended I was SURE we will get a beautiful story of coming out, becoming ones' true selves and learning to love oneselves and each other despite failures and weaknesses.

100%. In S1 I liked pretty much all characters, even Badmintons had their charm. And the pirates all had their weaknesses and failures but they were all incredibly likable anyway. In S2 I can’t stand either Ed or Stede to be honest. I actively dislike both of them most of the time.

And Djenks is so much in love with his own work that he doesn’t see that selling your show as a romantic comedy and then putting domestic violence, mutilation, suicide attempts, sexual assault jokes etc. in is incredibly fucked up. I'm still pissed about it to this day.

That’s true. I mean, two extra episodes might have helped with the atrocious pacing, but my main issue with S2 is that a lot of it is very mean-spirited. Which would work in Black Sails but not in a show that's supposedly all about kindness.

And they also knew they had 8 episodes from the get go. Like, I understand that Djenks probably drafted S2 with a 10-episode season in mind, but bloody hell, he's a professional writer, he should be able to do rewrites and not murder the pacing entirely.

They knew their budget from the get go. Yes, WBD reduced the budget in comparison to S1, but they knew what they were working with from the start. It was a conscious decision to blow the money on the mermaid dream sequence.
