HB289 could mean lawyers, not doctors, will be consulted if a pregnant patient needs health care, including in an emergency. This bill could jeopardize IVF, chemotherapy, and abortion access if the partner, abuser, or even rapist of a pregnant patient is able to sue.

HB 289 could jeopardize IVF, chemotherapy, and abortion access if the partner, abuser, or even rapist of a pregnant patient is able to sue for the loss or termination of the pregnancy.

"I want to say one thing for clarification. There's language in this bill that has been cited as possibly carving out doctors. That language does not do that at all." Mark Deligo, The Doctors Company

"We are against Senate Bill 164, for a multitude of reasons, but mainly because this bill seems like a vague and just unnecessary attack on freedoms that are already in danger." - Harrison w/ @voicesofflorida.bsky.social

"I've been a nurse for 40 years.... Fetuses and embryos are not babies and children. Women and Girls should be in charge of their health care and guided by the expertise of their OB providers." #SB164 #FLleg

"I have friends who recently became first-time mothers. While they are overjoyed to be parents, they are no longer sure of having a second child in this state... The prospect of not being able to access the care if they need a miscarriage or an abortion is terrifying. - Madeline, public speaker

"Are we sure that our current law is as clear as can be as to when the life of the mother is in jeopardy and a doctor has to make a decision that the law in Florida is so clear that every doctor and every hospital knows that they are protecting this woman lawfully? - Sen Polsky

First, they came for Planned Parenthood health centers this summer. Then, at midnight, Congressional Republicans and Trump came for the whole government, choosing to shut it down and force mass federal layoffs rather than work across the aisle to lower health care costs for people.

🎉Mifepristone is 25 today!🎉

That's a 25-year record of safety and effectiveness. But that hasn't stopped extremist politicians like DHS Secretary RFK Jr. or Florida AG James Uthmeier from spreading misinformation about the abortion pill.

Trump and RFK Jr. are back at it again — fearmongering and spreading dangerous misinformation about essential health care and science. They’re pushing the baseless claim that taking Tylenol during pregnancy causes autism.

Let’s be clear: the science does not support this. Period.

The Florida AG is simply wrong.
"Mifepristone is the most common form of medication abortion, which accounted for two-thirds of abortions in the U.S. in 2023, and was approved by the FDA over two decades ago."
