I only disagree on the front that as an Aussie it is a nightmare keeping any sort of garden filled with non-native vegetation alive throughout our seasons.

When used appropriately those irrigation systems do help out a lot here. Emphasis on appropriately, though.

Tem do you ... forge your tail on a hot anvil and then have to cool it off in your tail-sized cup of water???

Oh wow! It has ripples that you'd expect from a droplet in a lake. Quite a fascinating thing to see

There's also a weird flavour of transphobia or otherism that appears on reddit when it comes to talking about lesbians, enbies, trans folk, bisexual folk, etc. It seems so disengenuous to actual dynamics and people to a harmful degree :(

interestingly i've also met a good handful of people who think bluesky is still too unmoderated/lenient to hate speech and toxicity to be usable for them– goes to show that a problem doesn't really get solved completely without putting your foot down :(

do you think the king is just in bed and tumbling off the edge every now and then

I feel like a lot of people are generally blind to how important maintanence is in any field. There's a weird idea that once something is made that it'll just magically stay good forever and work as long as you don't touch it (also explains why so many people's pc problems are just. cleaning.)

Too many times does undo not undo in software. It's like they hate a stress free day of making art

touché.

i find EVs fall victim to the trend more given the thought process of "it's already electric, lets add more electronics".

i also find that some newer cars have both really bad rear-view windows and really bad AC systems. I feel like priorities have been missing the mark as of late

Honestly I feel like we peaked in useful features back around when carplay was introduced and a lot of features thereafter have been more of a hinderance (save for some more widely available things like side-view mirrors adjusting based on if you're parking or not)
July 30, 2025 at 12:30 PM
Plus some other features I've seen that I just really don't care for. Things like seating adjustment profiles or a centre display with entertainment apps (??) that can go landscape or vertical, or a proprietary GPS that is often significantly worse than Apple or Google maps
July 30, 2025 at 12:28 PM
BYD, for example, has a lot of "safety" features that can make the driving experience more unsafe what with forcefully taking steering control, slamming brakes, or annoying the user with various alerts and sounds if its sensors determine it's necessary.

It doesn't even make it more accessible
July 30, 2025 at 12:27 PM
I will say one genuine criticism of a lot of EVs I personally have is that companies seemingly feel the need to put a million 'features' into the car that often make driving more distracting or inconvenient, resulting in users turning them off and making the inclusion redundant.
