Funnily enough the NGV used to incorporate stylish elements of bicycle culture within their programming. Here's my bicycle on stage at the NGV for an event in 2013 :-)

So many people have asked, happy to report that John Englart's ( @takvera.bsky.social ) beloved Juliet & Indiana Jones, chihuahuas for climate action, have found a loving home after his untimely death last week. #JohnEnglart #couchpeloton #merribek #climatejustice #ChihuahuasforClimateAction

Devastating news today discovering that @takvera.bsky.social has passed away. John was a loved Merri-bek community activist and will leave an enormous hole in our local community. I got to know him through @merri-bekbug.bsky.social and shared several rides with him and Juliet and Indiana Jones.

Minding a friend’s dogs while they are away and then heading home for a few hours to work there to keep our Spike from feeling lonely. Not getting much work done in either house!

Can’t actually justify another bike so splashed out on valve caps instead. 😃

Today’s big/little task is cleaning my bike which I have been avoiding for weeks now because my hands will get cold. 🙄🙄

It was so cold this morning but the sun came out and we had a lovely morning running a BUG ride exploring some projects creating habitat, managing water and stormwater in particular and being beautiful.

The perfect autumn day in the sun taking some of our Wheel Sisters on their first ride on local streets.

A weirdly balmy evening in the beer garden. What has happened to May? Where is my autumn?

Bought this wonderful looking book yesterday, The Ancients, about the world's oldest surviving trees in Tasmania. Still looking forward to reading it. Today my mum told me about this interview the author Andrew Darby had with Richard Fidler.

Mansfield CWA has a great little market/op shop. I was very restrained in the circumstances.
April 18, 2025 at 5:06 AM
Escaped the city early and we’re done with the traffic and boring bits by 10. A beautiful day to be out riding some of Mansfield’s very beautiful gravel and saying hello to bouncy boys.

Came to Tumbarumba for the gravel. Didn’t disappoint.

Passing time on snowshoes again until the snow starts falling!
January 27, 2025 at 5:32 AM
It’s the first time I’ve had to wear sunscreen in Hokkaido in January! On the upside the unseasonably warm weather has made for insane views. Still looking forward to the snow that starts this week!

There are lots of animal tracks in the woods around our house: tanukis, foxes, squirrels and hares. Today I spotted an Ezo Yuki usagi, which was pretty exciting. (Not my photo, borrowed from Japan tourism)

Still no fresh snow to speak of so no powsurfing today. It’s going to be like this for a while :-( I went for a snowshoe hike following the creek through the national park in the forest.

When I knitted my Jelka beanie it was too short as I misread the measuring point for starting the decreases. Inserted a lifeline yesterday and frogged the crown and redid it this time correctly. Much better fit AND won my game of yarn chicken!

It’s far too warm here. Working on a VCAT submission and breaking up the day with walks around the village.
January 22, 2025 at 10:16 AM
A not very successful search for powder yesterday. It’s far too warm here, maybe ten degrees above the January average for a whole week forecast. Luckily the views are good!
January 20, 2025 at 11:25 PM
I had to work today so it was a day in the office with a view of everyone else heading out.
January 17, 2025 at 10:49 AM
At the risk of being hated by everyone; hiking through all of this powder is killing me! Although looking forward to the legs of steel when I get home and jump on a bike. Here is Jacob on his yukiita yesterday.

Such a wonderful first day in Hokkaido. We took our snow surfers out and had fun playing in the snow on Annupuri before having taken for lunch followed by an onsen.
