My post wasn't a 'defence' at all. All you are doing is explaining why you didn't approve of him or agree with him. No doubt others will have similar attitudes to you and those you support. But we are all pretty doomed if all we can do is demonise and dehumanise our political opponents.

Your comparison with Hitler is facile. Kirk was not a military or political leader. He didn't call for, instruct or direct violence. Hitler led a country that turned the state machinery to genocide. Where do you draw the line on people who deserve to die? All the racists? Torch the Home Counties?
