Shameless plug for Commotio’s concert on Sat 14th June, featuring John Rutter’s lovely Birthday Madrigals (this is us rehearsing no.4, My love hath all my heart). Sadly it’s the choir’s last appearance at SJE Arts in Oxford before it closes as a music venue. Tx at commotio.org #choralmusic #singing

Shameless promotion time! It’s Commotio’s final concert next month at St John the Evangelist in Oxford before, frustratingly, it closes as a concert venue.
The concert is titled “Sonorous, Joyful, Ebullient” and features John Rutter’s Birthday Madrigals, in honour of his 80th birthday.

I’m 61. I was a pre-teen when I saw this advert in one of my childhood comics. The idea that men could build the body that women want (and that if you didn’t you were a “scrawny weakling”) has been pervasive for generations. The power of myth, eh?

75% of the Legion exhibition last year was just stunning. But agree about the permanent collection. And don’t get me started on the sheer chaos that is their ticketing and queuing system along Great Russell Street.
