Uh-uh.”]) We can’t hear what her parents respond to her. [Panel 4] Diana’s gazing at Akko, smiling to her phone as she gives (what she can only assume to be) news to her parents. “はああぃ、ちよっと-” (“Ha ā ~i, chotto-” [Yeees, just a secooond-]) [Panel 5] The girl smiles, caressing softly her dog as she has lost all interest in the book she’s holding, tenderly staring at her friend, who's going to take a while with her parents-child “how’s it been” talk. “見えるよ!久々!” (“Mieru yo! Hisabisa!” [I see you ! It’s been so long !”]) [Panel 6] Akko is beaming with joy, finally being able to see and talk to her parents after yearning for their presence for the last week, she’s trying to get as much as she can of them from this phone call. [Panel 7] “Dianaって-” (“Diana tte–” [“Diana is–”]) Her parents cut her, Akko is surprised by what they answer to her. [Panel 8] “あ、もう– わかったよ...”(“Ah, mou– Wakatta yo…” [“aaah, fiiine– I got it…”] Frustrated, Akko seems to give up on some answer her parents gave her. Diana definitely heard her name with Akko’s natural accent a moment before, does it have something to do with her ? [Panel 9] Akko turns her head in her direction, this was about her indeed ! And why is she pouting, like she’s in distress but also embarrassed ? [Panel 10] She stops facing her, too self conscious to look at her while transmitting her parents’ word. “Uh, Diana? My parents want to meet you, is that alright ?” she finally asks. [Panel 11] Diana is taken aback by this, too formal, demand. She doesn’t realize she’s gripping her book, flustered as she is. She simply answers “Um– Yes, of course.”

[Panel 1] Aunt Daryl continues her speech from the last page. “Diana, there is no doubt you will become Head of the House eventually and until that time comes, you should be learning how to navigate business relationships.” [Panel 2] Diana listens to her, visibly irritated, but keeping it in check so far. “Listen. You broke the seal and brought back magic–” [Panel 3] Diana cuts her despite her best efforts to not react. “Again, it was Akko wh–” Daryl doesn’t let her finish, she resumes. “–Yes.” [Panel 4] Daryl is unfazed by her niece’s small outburst. “I understand that but you are the one with the lineage and title, not her.” [Panel 5] Diana can only listen. In frustration, she tenses up even more, and exasperated she stares at the floor, slightly hunched. “People *will* come to you and they *will* try to take advantage. The best thing you can do is anticipate it and take the first step. If you keep your alliance with the witch who saved the world and play your cards well, you will be protecting both yourself and her.” [Panel 6] She finishes with a strict rhetorical question. “Do you understand?” Diana shuts her eyes in despair. [Panel 7] She capitulates. “I understand.” A pause. “Has anyone come to ask you for any favours already?” “Not yet. But there are rumours about our involvement in a new Witch Council.” [Panel 8] “We will probably receive a formal invitation by the end of the year.” Diana repeats from the surprise at first. “A New Witch Council?” [Panel 9] Then her face changes, letting her worries visible. “Akko…” She thinks in concern. “Do not worry about it.” Daryl dismisses. [Panel 10] Taking up a folder, she resumes once again. “I will take care of everything and keep you informed while you are away at school. I’ll help with your transition into Head of the House when that time comes.” [Panel 11] Diana is shocked by how compliant Daryl is about relinquishing her position this time around. [Panel 12] “I know we have not been on the best of terms in…” She seemingly appears …regretful. “Well, since Bernadette passed away, really.”

You didn’t have to.” [Panel 7] “Nah, I…” She playfully winks at her. “I wanted to do something nice. And I even paid for them!” [Panel 8] “How about we eat them together tomorrow?” Akko physically rejects the idea, putting her arms in front of her. “Nuh-uh, they’re yours!” [Panel 9] Diana gives a soft look to Akko, she insists. “And I want to share them with you. Are you ready for our tour?” she says entering the room. “Couldn’t sleep waiting for it!” Akko says from the floor where she is stretching. “Get dressed so we can go before breakfast, then.” “Right-o!” [Panel 5] The tour seems to have taken a while so they continue their conversation in the hallway. “...And the dining room is right through that door and beside it is another drawing room” she explains, as they walk down the corridor. “How many drawing rooms do you need?” “Well, when you have a few dozen people visiting they come quite in handy.” “Have you ever hosted a big party here?” [Panel 6] Akko looks at Diana “Oh, many times. Every Samhain and Yule we used to host one, but they started thinning out in recent years.” “That’s a bummer.” says Akko. “Trouble for staff and dreadfully boring people. I don’t miss them.” says Diana back. [Panel 7] “Andrew said he used to come here.” says Akko. “Who do you think I was referring to?” answers Diana and Akko gives her a nudge and laughs “Hahah! You’re so mean! He’s not so bad.” [Panel 8] She then checks her phone “Hey, how come this place has better reception than Luna Nova?” [Panel 9] “Luna Nova’s on a displaced realm, remember? Professor Croix used magic to get a signal from and out but we don’t need that here.” [Panel 10] “Oh, I see. I was checking on my parents, they already boarded the cruise.” Akko says with a pouty face. [Panel 11] Akko shakes her fist in the air “Hope it’s worth leaving your daughter behind!” [Part 12] She snaps back as she smells something “*Snif* Oh that smells amazing!” Diana answers, smiling “Harris must have made pancakes.” [Panel 13-14] Akko smiles back at her “Harris?” “The chef. He likes to experiment so if there’s a dish you’d like to try, please make sure to tell me.” “Suddenly it doesn’t sound that bad being here instead of on a cruise!”
