Durham based mam of two small humans in a neurodiverse family. NHS Librarian. Reader, walker, cross stitcher, tea drinker. Perpetually tired but I try. She/Her. Views own etc.
Parent Factor class tomorrow - eight hours of 'parenting training' that has to be completed before CAMHS will consider giving my child the ADHD medication that they've already admitted he needs. And I think my period is about to come on. What a day ahead of me, hey.

I don't think I've ever read a book quite as bleak as this one.

My 3yo has just given a massive sigh and said 'Oh Mammy, your hair gets EVERYWHERE!'

Reading A Christmas Carol to eldest and he said 'Wow, this Charles guy likes to use a lot of words, doesn't he?'

Oh, my sweet summer child.

Eldest likes to listen to Smooth Radio in his room (it soothes him) and they've been ALL OUT on the Christmas music for the past week or so. Can hear the distant sound of Shakin Stevens now, as I potter on.

Did you ever see that post about the woman who went shopping with her husband and he concertinaed (sp?) a baguette that she'd just bought to fit it in a bag, and she was filled with rage?
Anyway, that's just popped into my head for no reason.

Another dreadful day with eldest. More common than the good days now. MIL watched it all and then said 'I don't know how you cope, love. I don't.'

Neither do I! But we have to! Because what's the alternative?! Please stop saying that shit to parents, we have no choice but to cope!

I've put on over a stone and a half since I returned to work from mat leave. I'm trying not to let it bother me but it's clearly doing a sedentary job when I was constantly moving and walking when I was off. I eat better now (no all night chocolate-eating/boobing sessions), it's a lack of movement.

Went to the beauticians this morning. 9yo's reaction: 'WHY ARE YOUR EYEBROWS SO DARK????'

They are the *lightest* shade, they're just visible now.

This is the last one I need to get, it anyone fancies giving me a clue?

Someone at work yesterday asked me if I was 'all sorted for Christmas' yet. I mean, it's not even the middle of November? Is ANYONE all sorted for Christmas yet?

Wasn't sure about going to Lumiere tonight but actually had a lovely time. Wasn't too busy and although the number of installations seemed reduced, we liked what was there. Boys loved it and behaved brilliantly. Littlest was shattered by the end so we came home after a couple of hours. Lovely night.

Would anyone like 2 Adult tickets for Lumière this evening? 5pm-6pm entry. I’ve tried unsuccessfully to return them and I don’t want them going to waste. xx

Made the mistake of reading some Facebook comments about Lumiere (big light festival in my city this weekend) and lots of people talking about how crowded and badly managed it is, too many people crammed together, no ways of getting through, and now I don't want to go, but have promised my kids 😭

From an AI training course I'm in this morning (Co-Pilot). Yes, definitely worth destroying the planet to produce high quality stuff like this.

Which of you lot slipped my littlest some Red Bull this morning, and would you mind not?!

13/20 so far on the #hiddenbooksgame and now wondering if I've ever actually read a book in my life...

So this morning my 3yo sat next to me while I did Connections, pointed to the word 'sea' and said 'See-ah'.

For my November crafty meet up with my bestie, we made Christmas door wreaths. Mine is absolutely hideous 🤣 It might end up going on the back door rather than the front. Loved seeing her though ❤️

Just let my kids choose their own Advent calendars. Eldest chose a Lindt one and youngest a Kinder one.
Bloody hell.

Something nice from school, for a change. The nursery kids are so used to seeing 9yo going in to see 3yo that a number of them now call him 'Brother' and when he walked through the hall yesterday and they were all in there a group of them ran up to him and cuddled his legs shouting 'It's Brother!' 🥰

'Remember to take time for yourself, you need to put your own oxygen mask on first!' shout all the mummy pages on Instagram.

*Laughs hysterically*

Still, tonight I saved a bit of time by having my sobbing session in the bath - does that count as self care?

Elon Musk announcing that The Iliad is 'maximum alpha'. The Iliad. That famously heterosexual tale.

And then sharing an image of The Odyssey, apparently unaware that they're actually different texts.
