Remembering Private Edmund Griffiths 2nd Battalion East Lancashire Regiment, killed on this day in 1914. He was a member of a burial party during a Christmas truce. He was shot in the head by a German sniper as he returned to the trenches. He was born in Blackburn, Lancashire in 1892.

So close to Christmas and I'd like to think about all postal workers & delivery agents out there in all weathers, making sure we receive the things we need.
Merry Christmas!
Here's a post from 4 years ago, Pte. Arthur Rhodes, a Keighley postman who died in WW1:

As well as the 4 volumes about the 1st Battalion Royal Welsh Fusiliers, try the 4 volumes covering the 1,000 men of the 2nd Battalion. Great Christmas pressies instead of the usual High Karate Aftershave. All available on Amazon at bargain prices. I'll even get Woolly & Worth to deliver 'em!

There's still time to get some real history for Christmas instead of that overpriced Johnny Depp toilet water. 4 volumes telling the stories of the 1,100 men of the 1st Battalion Royal Welsh Fusiliers who died during, or as a result of the Great War. All available on Amazon. 🎅

Can't believe this is 39 years ago. I cycled from Land's End to John O'Groats in 1985. Took 16 days.

Just sorting some stuff out & came across an original script from Kojak. The episode is "The Goodluck Bomber". The dealer was settling an estate in Los Angeles.

A great pleasure today to provide the story of 8541, Pte Charles Garrod, 2nd Suffolk, to his grandson. Pte Garrod was captured at Le Cateau on the 26 August 1914. We also helped trace the grandson's father's details - he was also taken PoW in WW2 serving with the Rifle Brigade.

I recently took members of the North Wales branch of the Western Front Association on a tour of Great War graves in Rhyl Town Cemetery, including the grave of Harry Weale VC. . Weather was kind to us. Very well received & followed by a drink or 2 at a local seafront bar.
