And completely unacceptable too in the 21st (soon 19th) century USA, where it is about to mushroom phenomenally as the Trump administration forces literally millions into poverty through stripping food and healthcare supports. These are times none of us truly thought we'd see... until recently.

Thank you - as co-author and/or lead author of 6 of the "Scientists' warnings" papers including World Scientists' Warning of a Climate Emergency," I have to say this would've gravely disappointed my parents of that noble WWII generation. And then some. They brought us up to create a better society.

Yep, that's exactly what we fear it is, too. For those of us who've worked on climate change for longer than many gamers have been alive, it's exasperating to see nihilism creep over humanity. It reflects badly on us scientists too, for not messaging v clearly about what's too late and what's not.

There's definitely a level at which volcanic winters cause climate change - indeed our historical knowledge of the social, economic and political impacts of climate change come from the big eruptions of Tambora and other distant-past volcanos. (And several of us in this group are volcanophiles...)

This is challenging at the best of times - psychologically, economically, geographically, politically, culturally. In times of planetary emergency it's our #1 choice.

The global minority ('Global North'), usually more economically privileged, often white, needs to take massive responsibility to embrace simplicity/ #enoughism if we are to solve this. And to help the global majority achieve enough quality of life+ #womensempowerment so we can all live more safely.

We're not sure in what sense any resource is functionally infinite, except perhaps (for a few billion years) sunlight. Virtually all require energy and materials to deliver technologies - sometimes in massive and unsustainable quantities. Is that the kind of tech you mean, or...?
