He sprang to his jet, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like a corporate missile.
But I heard him exclaim, as he flew out of sight,
"Happy tariffs to all, and to all a good fright! //

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the headlines, then turned with a jerk.
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
With a smirk and a nod, up the escalator he rose. 12/

He was smug and self-righteous, a caricature of wealth,
And I groaned when I saw him, in spite of myself.
A glare of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know I had plenty to dread. 11/

The stump of a Big Mac he clutched in his hand,
And the grease it encircled his cuff like a band.
He had a broad face and a belly so round,
That shook when he laughed, like a thunderous sound. 10/

His eyes—how they squinted! His scowl, how severe!
His cheeks flushed with rage, his scowl full of sneer!
His small little mouth was drawn up in a pout,
And the hair on his head seemed to scream, “Let me out!” 9/

He was dressed in a suit, all tailored and red,
But his pants rode too high, and his face was well-fed.
A bundle of policies flung on his back,
And he looked like a salesman, just peddling his wack. 8/

And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the floor,
The stomping and bellowing, the slamming of doors.
As I turned from the window and looked all around,
Through the lobby he marched with a corpulent bound. 7/

"Now, JD! Now, Bobby! Now, Elon and Steve!
On, Junior! On, Petey! On, Fox News, believe!
To the top of the polls! To the top of the wall!
Now tax them! Now tariff them! Squeeze them all!" 6/

With a smirk on his face and a tweet in his hand,
His skin like Cheetos, his tie far too long,
His hands oddly small, but his ego was strong.
More rapid than eagles, his minions they came,
And he barked and he bellowed and called them by name: 5/

The moon on the streets cast an orange-ish glow,
On a circus below putting on a show.
When what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a golden-haired figure, his minions drawing near. 4/

When out in the plaza, there rose such a clatter,
I sprang from my desk to see what was the matter.
Away to the window, I rushed in a flash,
Tore open the blinds and peered through the glass. 3/

The shoppers were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of price hikes danced in their heads.
And CEOs fretted, their phones in their lap,
As they scrolled through the news of the looming trade trap. 2/

that only further inflates that man, and those around him, sense of grandeur and makes the bully bigger.

He’s a chaotic, incompetent, man child. The world will use whatever they’ve got to keep him from going off the rails too much. That is all. //

One wrong move he can shatter the world’s economy and the tenuous physical peace of the whole world.

Americans and their media need to wake up to how they are perceived now. Claiming subservience by other leaders is a dangerous narrative 4/

one of the few easy, low cost, give aways he has to maybe keep him calm enough, long enough so that the rest of the G7 can scramble and shore shit up before a new tantrum.

The US is being run by a temperamental, idiotic, monster who considers himself to be some kind of god king. 3/

American press has fundamentally misinterpreted what other world leaders are doing in terms of Trump. That wasn’t “acquiescence” that was placating a demented toddler!

They pointed to the fact that Starmer brought an invite from King Charles for Trump. That’s not a tithe rather 2/

I know the answer to this, but can’t help but asking: don’t they see how embarrassing they are? I mean to themselves? Jfc 🤦🏾‍♀️//

For me in particular I feel like I can just let the artistry of it wash over me and it manages to scratch lovely bits of my brain with the puzzle. It leans into my varied sets of knowledge, my ability to synthesize different points of information, and attention to detail. Absolutely marvelous. //
