"I agree this thing is bad, but what about this other bad thing?"

I think students secretly recording class should be kicked out of class. (For one thing, it's a privacy violation of the other students.) And yes, it's authoritarian - old school McCarthyism.

Now, do we agree both things are bad?
If students shouting down campus speakers is authoritarian, what is students secretly recording professors and getting them added to the Dangerous Professor List so they get harassed, threatened, and/or fired?

God bless these people.
It's near-white out conditions in Chicago as the snow comes down, and tonight's anti-ICE/CBP rally is wrapping up in front of city hall.

But not before the crowd bounces and chants, "I believe that we will win!"

Leading American companies — including Palantir, Deloitte, and private prison giant GEO Group — raked in over $22B from ICE and CBP contracts last year.

Do not forget who is profiting from cruelty and human suffering.

Alex Pretti, Renee Good, and Keith Porter Jr. were murdered. Marimar Martinez was shot. Mahmoud Khalil was arrested and jailed.

The next could be you.

What’s at stake isn’t just our democracy. It’s also your safety and security and that of your loved ones.

This is personal — to every one of us.

Thank you to The Tennessee Holler for covering what’s happening when much of the media isn’t. They shared video showing a door being kicked in by ICE agents and agents refusing to produce a warrant when asked. Guns drawn and kids in the house.

This is stunning. Listen to this in Philadelphia.

Thousands singing “Hey-Oh, we won’t be silent while our friends are gunned down.”

Really listen to it.

AOC: This has now become what we feared most about ICE for a long time—that it would be used as an anti-civilian force with no accountability. At the end of the day, what we saw today was a murder, and murders in cold blood need to be prosecuted.

Corporations aren’t. AI is not. But immigrants and Venezuelans definitely are.

This didn’t start as some big corporate policy. It started with individual Hilton franchisees making a choice. A Hampton Inn in Lakeville, Minnesota refused to host ICE agents. That decision came from the people running the hotel, not from protests or outside pressure.

Three out of five men in this shot have been accused of sexual misconduct, harassment or abusive behaviour towards women. A fourth signed into law a near-total abortion ban in his state as governor.
