Oh no, her one weakness!

That every member of her rogue's gallery is geared to exploit!

How will our heroine get out of this one?!

I've been struggling the past few days with my new Mint installation, so seeing this helps remind me why I'm struggling through, thank you

It's not even just disrespectful to their customers, it's disrespectful to their own employees, all the incredible creative and technical talent to make some of the most iconic and beloved cultural touchstones of now multiple generations, to turn around and tell them their work is mere shop fodder.

Metroid: Other M

Sorry, I know I should say the Harry Potter GBA game I had, but Other M hurt worse because I decided to make it my introduction to the Metroid series, and it instead turned me off it for years.

Rowling successfully glamorized and romanticized that obviously beloved pillar of British society: private boarding schools. As if that were the absolute peak of what one could enjoy in life.

Religion is lies. There's no nice way to say it.

From what we can objectively observe of reality, there is no evidence of the existence of: consciousness after death, reincarnation, supernatural entities, or paranormal phenomenon.

There is no religion that accepts all of those facts as true.

In short, you can only find something on the Mastodon ecosystem if you already know exactly what you're looking for and where to find it.

This is great if you enjoy being in a niche community nobody can find, but very bad if you enjoy browsing posts with casual searching, like I do. 4/

You're also limited by your instance: if you're on a small instance, you can only search your instance or instances of users you or other home instances follow. If you're on large instance, most of the small instances are defederated from you anyway because how dare you support large communities! /3

and populated by the absolute worst militant CW posters from Tumblr.

It's also impossible to find anything because the search is non-functional for keywords and nobody uses hashtags, the "intended" use case for their search. 2/

I remember in high school some of the jocks talking about playing Madden.

I guess it's just for folks who enjoy regular sports more than me; which is to say "at all."

Chicken grousing "Cartoon Network keeps adding stars! ...but never parking spaces," hits different in a Zaslav world, huh.

Nothing to see here, just Amuro on his way back from his thankless engineering job to support his depressed alcoholic dad and struggling mother while in a loveless pity relationship with his high school sweetheart because they both never met more interesting people to crush on.

In a world where web scrapers are piliging photos and videos for copyright infringement engines and authoritarian regimes are doing the same to identify disappearable individuals, posting about your "innocuous" interests is a great way to jump the queue to get fed head-first into The Machine.

That's why he has moments of brillance: he was designed to consistently create the worst possible outcomes, and sometimes him doing something clever would be worse overall.

Wheatley makes much more sense if you consider his AI routine boils down to "generate a list of actions, extrapolate likely outcomes, then select the worst possible one." His core is doing a lot of heavy computation, its just the good ideas all then get discarded, in typical Aperture fashion.

Really not a fan of gene editing tech, because they're treatments that by definition only the rich will ever be able to afford.

Treatments that only elites can benefit from are treatments the world as a whole is better off without.

The problem is that works the other way too: a lot of people who profess to hold progressive views will also drop them real quick if they suspect there will start being negative social, legal, or material consequences for publicly holding those views.

Fortune tellers sneaking in hypnosis to make their fortunes happen is an underexplored idea.

It's like stage hypnosis, without the crippling anxiety of an audience and more kooky occult flair!

Hmm, yes, I see no problems whatsoever building a vehicle like a smartphone. Much safety standards, very tolerant of non-SoCal environmental conditions, I'm sure.
