apple mail app is worse by many other standards but i don't jive with gmail or trust any of the other "top 10 mail app recommendations" so i guess this is what i'm stuck with now
iOS Mail settings: Swipe Left. Quickly access features like Trash, Flag, and Archive, where supported, by swiping list items to the left. Options: None, Mark as Read, Flag, Move Message. Conspicuously absent are the "Trash" and "Archive" options that I am interested in.
