The shooting in DC was terrible but not tragic. There was nothing inevitable about this. If the National Guard had not been deployed upon the whim of weak ego maniacs, those Guards would not have come into harms way.

Keep them poor, ignorant, unwell, fearful, and hopeless. And if that doesn’t work, gin up outrage and open fire.

But there’s an even bigger problem with Trump’s order. He isn’t just authorizing deployment to Los Angeles. In fact, his memorandum doesn’t even mention LA. It authorizes deployment “at locations where protests against [ICE] functions are occurring or are likely to occur.” 13/19
